In The Shadow Of A Giant

Kanye talks about
His hard knock life
And how he respects
His hard knock life
He calls big brother
His J- A- Y
And speaks of his brother
Like he’s so fly
So I take this pen
Make the story begin
I’ve done it once
And I’ll do it again

My big brother
My big brother
Here’s a few words
From your kid brother
Thanks to you brother
My life has changed
I hope you accept this poem
I’ve wrote in exchange

The story begins
When I open this book
Memories pull me in
Like my mouth is hooked
It started way back
When i’d bask in his glory
Pavin the way
When he came out before me
In the shadow of a giant
Since I was a kid
Braggin to my friends
Of all the things that he did
His words cut through me
Like the edge of a knife
And if I put in a dollar
He’d change my life

My big brother
My big brother
Here’s a few words
From your kid brother
Thanks to you brother
My life has changed
I hope you accept this poem
I’ve wrote in exchange

Impressin him
Means way more to me
A good job from him’s
Like winnin the lottery
He’s the big brother
I always try to be
But to my little brother
I fail….miserably
He always helps me
When I feel so smothered
He’s my big brother
And I respect no other
He’s so real
He’d never sell out sell out
And for this reason
I want to yell out yell out

My big brother
My big brother
Here’s a few words
From your kid brother
Thanks to you brother
My life has changed
I hope you accept this poem
I’ve wrote in exchange

When It Rains.. It Pours

This horizon
Now utters its ire
With fire
The sky’s turn black
Against what I desire
It keeps comin
Keeps on pourin down
I cover my ears
To drowned the sound
Of the pound
Of my problems
As they hit the ground
I beg for help
But no one’s around

Drip drip drip
Drip drop
Drip drip drip
Drip drop

Drip drip drip
Drip Drop
I’d talk
But my tongue is tied
All up in a knot
Can’t speak
Can’t bring
All the words that I brought
Realizing that my life
Has been all for naught

Drip drip drip
Drip drop
Please cover me Lord
I’m dealin with a lot
Drip drip drip
Drip drop
If I obey, Oh Lord
Will you make this stop?
Drip drip drip
Drip drop
I remember my promise, Dear Lord
No, I haven’t forgot
Drip drip drip
Drip drop
I’m on my knees, begging please Lord
Give me one more shot…

So now I’m…
Soaked with these problems
With no way to solve them
Cause I’m fallin
From the Lord
With no way to call him
I fall in
To the depths
My mind starts recallin
I’m playing life’s hand
And now I’m all in

Drip drip drip
Drip drop
Please cover me Lord
I’m dealin with a lot
Drip drip drip
Drip drop
If I obey, Oh Lord
Will you make this stop?
Drip drip drip
Drip drop
I remember my promise, Dear Lord
No, I haven’t forgot
Drip drip drip
Drip drop
I’m on my knees, begging please Lord
Give me one more shot…

Drip drip drip
Drip….

Lets Go Back

Our Fore-Fathers would have a fit
If they witnessed this shit
We deserve what we get
As we sit in this pit
We had to enlist
And now we can’t quit
Get the first aid kit, ready
We’re about to get hit
Cause we never clinched our fist
We never raised our voice
A whole list of options
And you don’t have a choice
And hour by hour
They’re taking your power
This oil happy coward
Hides behind the day of the towers

Lets go back to the sixties
Get me some hippies
Who have the balls to yell
“You can’t rise up against me”
We will tell them they’re wrong
Peace be the song
Together we’ve drawn
On the governments lawn

So where is the belief
Fuck the commander and chief?
Even when his mouths closed
He still lies through his teeth
He blinds those who see
Trys to make us believe
No tricks up his sleeve
But this is just an anarchy
We don’t really need em’
Can you even call this freedom?
Time to find followers
And it’s my time to lead em’
I won’t disappoint
By making this point
Crank some Bob Marley
And smoke us a joint

And..
Lets go back to the sixties
Get me some hippies
Who have the balls to yell
“You can’t rise up against me”
We will tell them they’re wrong
Peace be the song
Together we’ve drawn
On the governments lawn

Cease this beast
That refuses this peace
Oppress his speech
From his press release
So maybe take a stand
Get your ass off the seat
Maybe you can save your ass
From dying in deceit
So take this advice
From my acoustic device
Don’t roll the dice
Or even think twice
This mans eyes
Are being really shifty
Lets open our mouths
It’s time to get really lippy
Lets take some action
Get this done swiftly
All I know is this shit wouldn’t go down
If I lived in the sixties

So..
Lets go back to the sixties
Get me some hippies
Who have the balls to yell
“You can’t rise up against me”
We will tell them they’re wrong
Peace be the song
Together we’ve drawn
On the governments lawn

I said..
Lets go back to the sixties
Get me some hippies
Who have the balls to yell
“You can’t rise up against me”
We will tell them they’re wrong
Peace be the song
Together we’ve drawn
On the governments lawn
