Keep Dancin

I believe a true athelete is a warrior. A warrior is someone who, when they step on the feild, would rather spit in your face then look at you. They go through a whole game fighting and competing to win. The moment the game is over, they end the battle and shake their opponents hand. Regardless of what events took place on the feild, ignoring the score, they stand with confidence and they have respect the person standing on the other side of the feild. A warrior doesn’t disrespect a coach, he controls his emotions, he won’t throw a fit like a 2 year old baby on the sideline cause he wasn’t getting the ball. He won’t be-little his teammates or opponents. A warrior is someone who works tirelessly to be the best, not for personal glory, but to help the team. He knows a team is only as strong as its weakest link. He knows if it was just about his stats, his glory, his fame… it wouldn’t be a team

I believe that the perfect example of a true athlete.. a warrior. is Mikey Mantle. When New York Yankee, Yogi Berra was asked who his favorite player was, he replied, “Mikey Mantel.” When the reporter asked why Yogi didn’t pick a more popular player like Dimaggio, Gehrig or Ruth. Yogi simply said, “for one reason and one reason only.” Yogi then motioned for Mickey to come over. “Whats you’re batting average and how many home runs have you hit this year?” Yogi asked. Mickey simply said, “I have no idea.” The reporter was shocked to hear this since, at the time, Mantel was on pace to win the triple crown, leading the league in homeruns, RBI’s and average. Yogi smiled and said, “thats why i like him, he doesn’t get caught up in whats not important. He always is focused on whats important, and that is to just enjoy playing the game.”

I think we all can learn a lesson from athletics, i believe being an athlete has taught me a lot in life.  It has taught me such life lessons as leadership, team work, respect and responsiblitly. Thats why I’m really concerned about the direction sports is taking.. I feel like there isn’t much i can do to stop the plague taking over our sacred events

About 90% of kids across america will answer the question, “who is your hero,” by naming a famous athlete. Knowing that 9 out of 10 kids will say thier  hero is some random guy on TV, even before they will name thier own parent. I believe pro athletes have a big responsibility.
Keep dancin
That responsiblitly is simple. If you are a professional, ACT like a professional. Do it ON and OFF the feild.
Keep dancin
Today that responsiblity is overlooked.. there are so many athletes, football, baseball, basketball, soccer and every other sport who have forgotton why they play sports. They’ve lost the life lessons they’ve learned and have refused to pass on the tradition of teaching our kids what an athlete is supposed to act like

What are you teachin kids? That showing up your opponent is cool? that having a cool celebration is more important than repspecting your opponent or even having respect for the game?
Keep dancin
So many times i will flip on the TV to see a beautiful, homerun, slam dunk, goal or 65 yard run ruined by a lame, immature,  celebration. I could be wrong.. but if you are a running back and you just ran for 65 yards untouched.. don’t you think you should run over to your linemen (who did all the work) and give them a high five or a slap in the ass and say “good job.” What ever happend to the word team? You think just cause you walked into the endzone it was all you?
Keep dancin
Ok, I got the point, you scored. Wow… i am so impressed, now while you’re celebrating why don’t you take a quick glance at the scoreboard… you’re team is still losing by 28 dumbass…

Good Guys Finish Last

I have another question..
Are all girls insane? Don’t get me wrong, i love women. They are amazing and i belive you are supposed to treat them with the up-most respect.. Or are you?
See.. All women drive me completely nuts.. let me explain my feelings.
All my life my dad has raised me to treat women with respect. To open doors for them, to not use bad language around them, to always protect them, and to always, ALWAYS, tell them how beautiful they are. To the normal man, this sounds like a good plan to snag a girl.
But its not.. I’ll get to why in a second..
One trait i have is that i am very observant.. i see things, hear things and i will remember EVERYTHING… through my studies i have listened to girls and what they want.. i have come up with 5 traits that will fit someway into what most women look for in a man (now i know there are 1,000’s of traits.. after reading these 5 traits.. those who know me will understand why i picked these 5… lol.. it makes me look good.. lol)
i will quote the female race straight from memory…
Trait #1… “I love a guy who takes care of his body”
Trait #2… “Oh, a guy who can play the guitar and sing is soooo hot..”
Trait #3… “Oh, i love athletes.. especially baseball players in their tight pants… mmm”
Trait #4… “I wish a guy would write me a poem.. thats so romantic”
And finally Trait #5 (who most girls would say is most important) “i just want a guy to treat me right”
Now.. i really can’t complain.. girls understand what they want and that is cool with me.. but do they pursue what they tell us? No.. no.. no.. no.. no.. they don’t.. they don’t for one reason.. one reason that i have found to ring true through many experiments.. the one reason…
GIRLS LOVE JERKS.. thats right, jerks.. not athletes, not artists, not preps, cowboys, homless people, firemen, not tall men, short men, or midgets, not poets, musicians, or nice guys.. JERKS!  Girls really could care less about what you do.. or how well you promise to treat her.. if you act like an absolute jerk.. odds are.. she’s all yours.
That brings me back to my original quesiton.. are all girls insane? whatever happend to the “knight in shining armor”? Today it isn’t important to be the knight coming to rescue someone you love.. todays society is more based around “what kind of horse did you ride in on?” I guess I missed the memo that said, “cars, money and clothes=Love.”
My many attempts to understand females has left my mind scrambling for answers..  Answers to questions like.. Don’t you want someone who treats you with respect? If you cry every night cause you’re with him.. then why are you with him? Do you really think the new shirt he bought you means “im sorry for yelling at you and calling you names?” Thats cool that he drives a hot car.. But what kind of car do you think he’ll drive when he moves out of mommy and daddy’s basement and has to pay for his own stuff?
My idol, Jack Johnson, said it best when in his song “gone” he says
Look at all those fancy clothes
But these will keep us warm just like those
and what about your soul is it cold?
straight from the mold and ready to be sold?
Cars and phones and diamond rings
bling bling
those are only removeable things

I mean.. honestly.. where did all the girls go who believe in a good guy? after all my studies i hate to ask myself this.. but i feel i almost have to.. should i start treating women like crap? Hell, maybe i’d snag Jessica Alba and live happily ever after..
who knows.. maybe one day women will figure it out.. til then congrats to all you non-talented, fat, non-athletic, musically challenged jerks who treat women like crap.. cause to them you’re considered “the cute guy in my English class”
Good luck with that ladies.. when you want a good guy thats really down to earth.. please let me know.. i know a ton of guys waiting for that to happen.

Banner of Truth

Against all odds we will stand. Uniting under the same banner, we will group together as one. Forming an alliance that no man can break. The faces of their men show much fear.  Sweat and tears roll down their cheeks as their eyes hide cowardly behind much armor.  For they fear us whom wear no armor. For they know a man is not made by his armor, he is made by many untangeble traits.. Excellence, hard work, respect and obidience are our biggest weapons. Their minds hide in doubt; their hands and knees shiver at the sight of our army. For they know we live and die as one. We few, we loyal few, have chosen this path since birth, and now..
It all comes to this
We step upon the feild already victorious in our heart and mind. Our heart belong with our families our mind to our elders and our soul to the everlasting father whom blessed us with such ability.

Silence now falls across the mouths of the soldiers. The only sound that escapes to the ears of the men is the sound of the frozen grass, crunching under our feet as we step onto the battlefeild. Preparing for war.
